SEMANTICS

In all the above features, there is a definite difference in the meanings the words which can be clearly categirized inti the lexical import and the semantic import as well. In lexical decomposition, the features which the items share (+) or do not share (-) enable us to arrange these items into sets of some identical features. Under collocation we see how the literal import of "blue", "red" or "black" is different from the non-literal import of the same words. Yet again for denotation and connotation, we can see that denotation gives the actual meaning of the referent, whereas connotation gives us the implied assocations of the same word.

But in other Semantics means the meaning and interpretation of words, sign, and sentence structure. Semantics largery determine our reading comprehension, how we understand others, and even what dececision we make as a result of our interpretations. Semantics can also refer to the branch of study within linguistics that deals with language and how we understand meaning. This has been a particularly interesting field for philosophers as they debate the essence of meaning, how we build meaning, how we share meaning with others, and how meaning changes over time.
